THE CHALLENGE
The Fields of Sinsinawa is a young nonprofit with a bold vision: restore soil health across America’s farmland to ensure healthier food, a safer environment, and stronger profits for farmers. With a mission in hand but a strategy still in formation, the board needed a clear path forward, one that would help shape their programs, engage supporters, and build capacity to grow.
THE INNOVATION WORKS® APPROACH
The board participated in a one-day Innovation Works® session tailored to their unique challenges. During the session, the Innovation Lab facilitated a series of focused solution sessions to:
Define a compelling membership structure for long-term engagement
Design a fundraising and development strategy to fuel growth
Build a volunteer strategy that clearly aligns roles with mission and impact
The team also sharpened the focus of their work around three core program areas:
Field Day Demonstrations
Farmer-to-Farmer Mentoring
Annual Save Our Soil Conference
THE OUTCOME
The Fields of Sinsinawa left the session with a clear, actionable roadmap and renewed alignment around their mission. The board designed a volunteer structure to support programming, created a membership model, and developed a fundraising toolkit, including communication templates, to support development efforts.
POWERED BY PARTNERSHIP
This session was made possible through the Gift of Innovation, a grant program powered by Dupaco Community Credit Union in collaboration with the Innovation Lab. The program customizes Innovation Works® engagements for nonprofits in Dupaco’s service areas, helping organizations unlock bold ideas, build alignment, and accelerate impact.
