Introducing 1 Million Cups Dubuque

Updated: May 7

Since launching in 2018, the Innovation Lab has been dedicated to creating a space where innovation thrives and unexpected "collisions" spark new ideas. By bringing together entrepreneurs, creatives, gig workers, and more, we've fostered a community built on collaboration and curiosity.

Today, we’re thrilled to help launch 1 Million Cups (1MC) Dubuque, a local chapter of the national initiative powered by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. 1MC is designed to engage, educate, and connect entrepreneurs and creatives, helping to build a vibrant, supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem through weekly presentations and peer-to-peer conversations.

The first 1MC Dubuque event will take place on Wednesday, May 14, at 8:45 a.m. at Collins Community Credit Union's Community Room (255 John F. Kennedy Rd.) and will feature local entrepreneur Jessica Pfohl Paisley. Jessica is known for her creative ventures and deep community roots. Jessica will share stories from her entrepreneurial journey—the wins, the challenges, and the lessons learned along the way. Wayfarer Coffee will be on hand to fuel the conversation with coffee.

Powered by Community

1MC Dubuque is led by a passionate 5-member organizing committee:

  • Eric Dregne, The Innovation Lab

  • Jessica Pfohl Paisley, AMIDST

  • Honor Jensen, Thriving with Honor

  • Jason White, Greater Dubuque Development

  • Ed Raber, Dubuque County

Together, this group is committed to cultivating a welcoming, consistent space where entrepreneurs of all kinds can connect and grow.

What Is 1 Million Cups?

Each week, 1MC gives local entrepreneurs the chance to share their story in a friendly, feedback-rich environment. Presenters talk about their businesses, exchange ideas, and receive supportive insights from a diverse audience of peers, mentors, and community leaders.

Whether you're just starting out or scaling up, 1MC is a platform to gain visibility, grow your network, and be part of something bigger.
